This project was made alongside the Beauty and the Beast horror book cover, so both were designed together. I thought of what the theoretical plot of a horror Cinderella would be, and came up with ideas based on it. Some were scenes I imagined in the book, so those didn't work as no book cover would spoil a major plot event. I ended up going with the view from outside the cottage, dark and mysterious, but I added a monster looming above it.

The final product was actually a photo I took, I tore the shape of a house from a piece of black paper, took some sticks to act as trees, and placed them on snow. I took the picture into Photoshop, edited it to add more trees to make it feel more like a forest, and then added the monster.

The entire cover was given a cold, blue color palette. This makes the place feel cold, dangerous and not made for you. This world is hostile, not because it wants to kill you, but because it is uncaring to your presence.
