THE MOURNING

These images were part of a color study, this one focusing on what a complimentary color scheme can add to an image. The story of the image is based on Apollo and his many lovers. In most of these legends, their romance ends in tragedy, the person dying and Apollo honoring them by turning them into a flower. The purple of the dress and the purple of the flower match, communicating the link between the character and the image, settling the story in the audience's mind.
